Author : faye bautistaA few decades ago, one has to to dial the telephone operator’s service number to get connected to the number which you desire to reach Telephone operators literally connect both your lines via a physical plug to complete the connection Nowadays there is a more innovative way of getting your much needed long distance call, and cheaper too

One do not have to shoulder the burden of an expensive mobile plan or a fixed land line with expensive long distance rates To save your day, companies that offer VoIP are much around to be of service to you It is a common knowledge that the cable lines are mainly responsible in transferring the audio data However, the different types of VoIP make it possible for you to place a very cheap call both locally and internationally

What are the various types of VOIP

For a phone service for both for home and business use, there is no doubt that VoIP is a common name in today’s modern society In several countries, VOIP has even turned into a common household jargon Instead of having a regular telephone line installed in the offices and within the homes, the VoIP phone service is much preferred

1 The consumer VoIP

Many of today’s consumer-based VoIP services provide free voice calling within the same provider This is made possible by that of using a certain kind of adaptor which connects to a program or a broadband service which functions like an ordinary main telephone line or a home computer

This type is a more economical system of getting through the public telephony network If you happen to notice it, many of the services are provided to you for free For one, you can call another computer by means of Skype or Yahoo Messenger without encurring any charges All that you need is a reliable broadband Internet connection, highly reliable microphones, headphones, and speakers

2 The small up to medium sized company VoIP

Typically, small scale businesses prefer to apply the methods that will allow them to save more money on their operations That is why, a VoIP system proves to be very practical in this line

Centrex Explained

Centrex is yet another type of a phone service which is utilized by most of the VoIP operated services It has the full control over the central calls and the switching is conducted inside a box that is usually placed on the wall which then acts as the remote Internet hosting center The Centrex services have something to do with the desk phones of the customers who connect the calls via the broadband Internet towards the PBX servers

Among the advantages of the system include the uncomplicated deployment just by the mere plugging of the phones into the Internet system, the lower and cost-efficient rates since the call is made over the web, lesser expenses on the installment because of the removal of the phone switches, and the cheaper rates for the internal phone calls

With everything that seems to be very much in control, your worries can all go away with the popular types of VoIP Therefore, take this into consideration as you work on your home or office needs The author is an offshore call center agent and a freelance writer. Author : Amy NuttVoIP, or voice over internet protocol, has already changed the way that many Americans communicate with friends and loved ones With VoIP it became possible to make seemingly regular phone calls - even long distance phone calls that would have cost a fortune with regular phone services, for free

In today’s world, with the current state of the economy, everyone is looking for ways to cut their costs of living and to save money in any way possible Eliminating high phone bills all together would be a tremendous way to save money, but there was one problem with using VoIP that severely limited its value in its original state - the user had to be close to a computer to use it

People today have grown accustomed to portability, almost everything that we communicate on these days is portable - cordless phones and cell phone let us communicate with friends and loved ones no matter where we are or what we are doing, so it was almost like taking a step backward in terms of convenience in order to save some money

Saving the money on all phone calls is great, but are people really willing to give up the portability of their cordless phones and cell phones to save the money - sure the VoIP would be good for calls if you new you were going to be just sitting and chatting for a while, but not being able to move about while conversing is a pretty big inconvenience for saving some money

Enter the WiFi VoIP phone
Looking to advance the technology even further and to make VoIP a serious threat as an alternative to traditional phone service, manufacturers began to look in a similar direction to wireless modems for VoIP to operate on The WiFi VoIP phone will allow users the same convenience and portability that they enjoy with a wireless internet connection in their homes What this does is to give the user the same portability with their VoIP service in their homes that they would have with a regular cordless phone With a WiFi VoIP phone, the user honestly won’t even be able to notice a difference in a switch over from the phone that they had been using to make all of their home phone calls - in fact the only difference there will be will occur in the absence of a bill from the phone company

The Future
As technology improves and further advancements are made, there is almost no limit to what users will be able to accomplish with a WiFi VoIP phone As more and more cities begin to adopt city-wide wireless networks, which residents can pay a monthly fee to have access to, there is a strong potential that VoIP technology will allow users to all but replace their cell phones with VoIP phones Users would pay the monthly fee to have access to the wireless network which would cover their regular internet access, but also give them city wide access to the network on their portable VoIP phones

What this would mean for end users who use their cell phones for nothing more than connecting with friends, family and associates is that they could effectively eliminate those cell phones and the bills that come along with them So what we could see in the future of VoIP could conceivably be a device that would very effectively allow end users to do away with their home phone service as well as their cell phone service and allow them to do all of the connecting that they need to (local and long distance, day and night) without spending a penny more than they would already be spending for a wireless internet connection Asterisk phone systems Vancouver and Toronto provider offers cost effective telecommunications solutions including Asterisk Phone Systems and software, VoIP PBX Vancouver, VoIP PBX Toronto, IP phone systems and other telephony hardware. When looking for VOIP consulting consider these services.

Author : faye bautistaMaking a free phone call to other countries was unheard of just a decade ago During those times, if somebody says he can make free calls to other countries, most probably, that person is a hacker, or one of those electronic geniuses who fakes the public phone system by sending sound codes at different frequencies to bypass the telco billing system

Now, with Voice Over IP (VOIP) one can call anybody, regardless of what country they are, as long as they’re connected to the internet, it is free It is indeed satisfying to note that you have this cool feature but the mere fact that you may use it to talk with the people whom you care about in several countries is a very precious thing! This is the feature that many customers die for and is also the very same reason as to why numerous other customers prefer to sign up for this service

The Good Sides Identified

These are the best features that one may enjoy using a VOIP service

Audio/Video Conferencing made easy over the Internet Internet conferencing is very popular especially among the workers and their bosses Wherever both parties are, they can still clearly communicate with each other This facility is a surefire way to keep costs down specially in times like these when there is a recession going on Instead of flying to a meeting, video conferencing is the way to go

A reliable equipment for Internet phone conferencing is of course needed If this is a tool that you must use, just be very sure that everyone is using the same compatible equipment so that the calls will transpire smoothly and clearly It is through this that the common problems with lost data and interrupted communication are further avoided

Revealing the Bad Side

Of course, there is no such thing that remains to be pure and true For every good side comes the bad side The VoIP service plans are really amazing yet there are a few things that may lead you to dislike it First of all, with a power interruption comes the unavailability of the phone

Regular phones can function even when there is no power However, this is impossible with VoIP This is because VOIP uses cable box which depends on the current to be able to run If you happen to have those VOIP units that connect and you have a DSL line, then perhaps your VOIP can still work Another part that often bothers the other users is that of the problem with the quality of the long distance call

Free VOIP services such as the ones you find in yahoo, skype can be annoying if there is a delay However, there are VOIP services that costs a few bucks a month to get a clear quality VOIP service

There are several individuals who are more than willing to attest that VoIP phone service system is indeed worthy to try This should be enough to convince you too and give it a try After all, its good side has more weight compared to its bad side The author is a freelance writer and writes various business articles related to outbound call center and economic stimulus package in detail

Author : Ranju KumarVoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology used to carry voice conversations using IP by digitizing voice into discrete packets that are transferred independently over the IP network This is in contrast to traditional circuit-switched protocols used in the Public Switched Telephone Network In simple terms a VoIP handset converts an analogue voice signal into a digital signal (binary data) that can be placed in an IP packet For example, the telephone user speaks into their handset The voice vibrates the diaphragm in the handset microphone and converts these vibrations to an analogue electrical signal The analogue electrical signal is sampled at regular intervals (e g 8000 times per second) and each sample is assigned a binary number - typically 8 bits long The binary data is assembled into small packets and inserted into the data field of the IP packet and sent to the destination

At the destination, the handset receives the IP packet containing the voice data The handset extracts the voice data and coverts the data back to an analogue electrical signal which is passed into the handset receiver The electrical signal vibrates the receiver diaphragm faithfully reproducing the original audio voice signal

VoIP offers a great deal of flexibility and economies of scale Businesses need only install a single cable per desk position as many VoIP handsets have integral Ethernet switches allowing the users PC to be connected to the handset The handset can then easily prioritize the voice data over the PC data There are also many handset software packages available so you can use your PC or laptop as a VoIP phone by connecting a low cost headset Also, USB handsets are available for less than pound 10/$15

VoIP may be used to provide remote telephony services from your main office telephone system Home workers require a domestic broadband connection and a VPN connection to their office to enjoy the full facilities of the office telephone system at home

VoIP services are more innovative and cost effective and allow any size business to handle their clients telephone calls from anywhere in the world Over 78% of small or mid sized companies use VoIP services compared to other legacy networks VOIP has several other benefits like call waiting, caller id, outbound caller id blocking, speed dial, last number redial, anonymous call rejection, call screening, three way calling, call hold, call forwarding, voicemail, and priority rings etc We have staff based in France and Australia but as far as our UK customers are concerned, they are working in our office

Initially in 2004 when VoIP was introduced in the market there was a very little or no demand for these services But today with technical advancements and innovative ideas VoIP services are more widespread

VoIP’s use IP network to transmit voice data renders our VoIP telephone systems vulnerable to virus attacks and other IP associated problems (e g Quality of Service) Software weakness can be exploited and also some sensitive information could be misused or hacked Hence VoIP should be installed and checked by professionals, especially if you intend to use VoIP for sensitive, personal or secret communications Security measures can be added without compromising the quality or flexibility of the service Astro Communications Ltd, a UK based specialist network communications engineering company. Astro specialize in delivering voice, data, video and network security solutions and they are about to introduce a new energy saving service. Author : Amy NuttThese days, most people are familiar with VOIP even if they don’t recognize the word Voice over Internet Protocol is something that many of us use from time to time or even on a daily basis Services like Skype are a good example of a VOIP system

Just What is a PBX? PBX refers to Private Branch Exchange, which sounds a little confusing, but is basically a method of switching phone lines back and forth to connect them in the world of offline communication When referring to VOIP, the system is essentially the same in concept, only it works over a LAN or WAN network These are data-oriented rather than circuit switched networks which we use in the real world phone systems

You see, when you make a call on a VOIP system to a phone, a VOIP PBX or IP PBX, is responsible for making the connection between the virtual and the real life version This is also in effect when you are calling from one computer to another, but there is no translation necessary between data and traditional phone lines

With VOIP PBX, it’s a very simple matter to create a conference call and have several people in on a call The technology has made it extremely easy to add new people to a call and without any additional preparation, you’ll be able to turn an ordinary phone call into one between several people This is particularly useful for business calls where several people need to be in on a discussion or for long distance meetings Families can also use this to connect on one call, no matter where they are in the world It’s an amazing technology that still isn’t being used as much as it should

What Should I Know? VOIP PBX is essential to making your calls online, but in most cases you don’t need to know anything about this In fact, your VOIP provider is going to be responsible for this area However, it does help to understand what they are talking about and to realize what some of the potential issues are with this type of setup
What is VOIP PBX?

The reason some people still refuse to use VOIP is that they worry about the quality and reliability of this form of communication While this was once a major issue, the technology has progressed to the point that these problems are far less frequent Before we look at the issues that can arise, it’s important to know that when you communicate online, your voice data is divided into smaller pieces, called packets, for sending

Possible problems include the following: - Too much information being received by the VOIP PBX Consulting at once - Packet delay, when a packet gets sent through the wrong relays - Packets getting jumbled up in the sending and reaching the receiver in the wrong order - Packets arriving at different times at the receiver, causing ‘jitter’

The result of having packets get lost or misdirected is a pause and possible loss of data while speaking This is part of the reason why there is often a delay when using VOIP This means you’ll need to speak slower when this happens However, for the most part, the technology works well enough for even business calls and is far more cost effective

Even though you may not need to know exactly how VOIP PBX works, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the concept VOIP is a very valuable addition to our communications systems and it is estimated that by 2010, 90% of communications sales will involve VOIP as it is rapidly growing in popularity Asterisk phone systems Toronto provider offers cost effective telecommunications solutions including Asterisk Phone Systems and software, VOIP PBX Toronto, and other telephony hardware. Author : Anna StenningOne of the greatest inventions to befall our world is the one thing that practically everyone around the globe is using and that is the computer and internet There was a time when I, like many other people, did not own a computer and those that did were able to afford something hi tech and expensive The internet was a fascinating new phenomena, connecting people together from all corners of the earth and providing worldly information at the tap of a keyboard

As a child I would remember both my parents making long distance phone calls and practically shouting down the phone for the other person to hear them The process was long and arduous, with my parents feeling frustrated that their message was not picked up clearly Now with the help of my broadband internet connection, one no longer has to damage their vocal chords down their landline telephone and can instead enjoy the perks of using VOIP phones

Despite the rising popularity of IP telephony there are still many people out there who do not know what VOIP phones are and how they can make long distance calls cheaper Given that many people now access to broadband internet, installing VOIP phones cannot be simpler The individual must have a broadband internet connection and have the IP programme installed onto their computer In order for the calls to be free, the recipient should also have the same programme installed onto their PC and have your profile added into their account

The VOIP system can be used to call landlines, which generally have a cheaper rate per minute and usually connect to most landline phones quicker than conventional methods Most IP users tend to have a microphone and speakers attached to their computer when making a call Headsets are especially useful for people who work in a busy office environment and need to make conference calls The sound quality is usually better than a microphone and often the same standard as a VOIP phone

However people can use their normal landline to make calls via an IP telephoning system, as long as they have a VOIP box installed and are connected to the internet VOIP works by managing analogue voice information and translating it into digital information, which is what turns the computer into a telephone However, when using a landline for IP communication a separate VoIP box is used to connect with the handset and the computer This is a simple process and many of these can be purchased online or via the software programme you choose to use

VoIP phones can be installed by your computer and works like a normal telephone Like a pay as you go phone, you can buy credits on your IP account and make calls to local numbers The services provided are often free these include conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, caller ID, group pick up and call transfer Some programmes may charge for a voicemail service, this depends on whether the calls are made to landline numbers or not Calling from PC to PC is almost always free, this also includes personal messaging service or chat boxes Reputable IP services now have a video calling set up which is especially useful for people contacting each other at greater distances Anna Stenning has been using VOIP phones for a few years now, which has proven to be a cost effective move.
