Now, don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to say cable and satellite companies are persuasive, evil, and wrong In fact, their services work just fine for a lot of people, and many do not mind paying the monthly fees When it comes to getting channels in HD, however, there are alternatives to paying extra for them With cable and satellite companies, these HD channels will usually cost extra Some advertisements will claim that the HD channels come for free with your regular service subscription, but when you compare the old packages without HD to the packages that do have HD, you will notice a difference in pricing

Unless you are intent on getting HD channels that only a cable or satellite provider can offer, then your best bet is to invest in an antenna, if you don’t already have one HD channels are transmitted the same way as regular channels are: through over-the-air signals These OTA signals are picked up by your antenna and transmitted to your TV for free Not a single dollar or penny will come out of your bank account every month to pay for these HD channels All that is required is the initial investment for the antenna, and then you are on your way to watching local HD channels for free These local channels include all the major, full-power stations, such as FOX, CBS, and ABC
