Author : Paul MarshallIt’s crucial for you as a copywriter that you understand the product or service you are selling
As the legendary copywriter Joe Sugarman said “you must discover the true unique nature of the product” What that means is that every product or service has it’s own identity - your job as copywriter is to reveal it!

You must ask: What is unique about Your product or service? What makes it superior to
your competitors? What’s odd, rare, quirky or new about it? What sets you apart ?

For example In his ground breaking advertisement for Rolls-Royce, advertising giant David Ogilvy spent 3 weeks reading about the car And even insisted that he was given one to drive whilst he researched During his many visits to the factory and his conversations
with employees he recorded this incredible quote from an engineer “At 60 miles an hour the loudest noise in this new Rolls-Royce comes from the electric clock ”

This exact quote, went on to become the headline for the advertisement which launched Rolls-Royce in America

My point is this,if you really want to reward yourself and profit from copywriting and advertising, then understanding the true nature of the product or service is essential The truth is facts sell and the more you tell the more you sell!

In copywriting the name of the game is research, research, research Not only must you know your product inside out you must also know your ideal buyer/prospect Many copywriters/businesses make this all too common mistake “I have this fantastic product when I advertise it everyone will want it and I’ll make a pile of money ”

Well not without a bit of market research they wont and no you won’t either unless you do a bit of research in advance! Believe me for you to succeed and create a huge income then this simple easy to apply step can make you a ton of money- research like crazy and only feed a hungry market!

Ask yourself who do I imagine using your product or service? Then target them! Go to places like Yahoo groups or other forums, find out what people are excited about, what they need or want and what they are talking about! Your job is to find out who really wants what you have to offer this will save you a fortune in time and money it’s really that simple!

Talk with people you feel may be interested in your product Ask questions, never underestimate the power of questions, tap into their desires their fears and problems and when you have collated all the information offer them the solution which should be your products

Sounds simple doesn’t it? Yet it can be if you go about it in the correct way stop thinking about trying to sell your products and start thinking about solving people’s problems! How can I help this person he or she does not want your product they want a solution

So before you even think of putting pen to paper spend your time wisely! And do your homework know your product inside out but more importantly know your market back to front Paul Marshall copywriter, provider of useful information to help you succeed see

Author : Nelson TanWriting an effective web copy begins with an understanding of what the goals of your website are Are you trying to get your visitors to purchase something or have them sign up for your newsletter? Remember you are trying to get someone whom you can’t see and have never met take a step towards building a relationship with you or your company

1 Create a customer profile—Who is exactly your target audience?

Are they young, middle aged or senior?
Are they primarily male or female?
Are they financially secure or budget-minded?
What gets him or her excited?
What are his or her most pressing concerns?

2 Create a Unique Selling Position (USP)—Find out what are the needs and desires of your visitors Brainstorm a list of topics that might interest your target audience Then based on these evidences, propose a statement of 2 - 3 sentences that explains why you are different from everybody else This is the unique factor that sets you apart from your competition Make this the first thing your visitor sees when they arrive on your home page

3 Focus on benefits—Most web users want to find the information about the product or service they need as fast as possible If they land on your site, they want to know how they will benefit from buying your product or subscribing to your e-zine You will need to answer that question as clearly and concisely as possible or you will lose that visitor

4 Use headlines—Provide a summary of your information by clearly communicating the main purpose of your copy Use informative headings and subheadings with a paragraph of 4 - 5 lines that supports them You only have a few seconds to grab your visitors’ attention Most will simply scan for the information they are seeking

5 Use bulleted or numbered lists, boldface or colored font to emphasize the points you wish to make

6 Include links within the text to direct visitors to other pages of your site for more in-depth information Effective navigation also helps visitors easily find the main sections of your site

7 Write in an informal or personal style—It is your own unique way of differentiating your presence from other small businesses in a similar niche It doesn’t have to be too elaborate or super-creative You simply provide a style that gets the attention of your visitors

8 Keep your sentences simple—You are not writing to impress You are writing to communicate Make it easy for a 13-year-old to understand why you want to sell your product or service

Don’t use large words but opt for strong verbs over weak ones Use the active voice instead of a passive one, i e instead of “a good score was achieved by the team” say “the team scored a season high” Speak “to” but not “at” your visitor Keep your sentences short and snappy Sometimes straight-forwardness is all it takes to bring results in the shortest time

9 Include searchable keywords—Use targeted keywords in your web copy that will allow the search engines to find your site Include these keywords in your meta tags, links and file names

10 Eliminate the fluff—Don’t waffle on in your writing You will only bore your visitors and they will click elsewhere Try to remove filler sentences that contain phrases like “for those of you” and “all of you”

11 Proof-read your web copy—Errors in your web copy give the impression of being unprofessional or sloppy Read the copy aloud to yourself or get someone else to proof-read it Often they will find more errors because they are more objective

Use the spell checker but don’t rely on it Often it doesn’t pick up grammatical or vocabulary errors Print a copy of your content It’s easier to find such errors on a hard copy this way

12 Take a break—Revise your web copy after taking a break from it for several hours or a few days This allows you to see it from a different viewpoint You may find a better way to say something to further improve your copy

13 Use images sparingly—Images should only be used if they relate and support your web content If not, they will only distract the visitor from reading your web copy Too many images will slow down the time it takes for your visitor to load your site in their browser

Writing an effective web copy is the key to converting visitors into buyers Getting thousands of visitors to your website doesn’t guarantee sales The types of words you use and how you combine and string them together is absolutely crucial to pressing the hot buttons of someone who would finally say, “Yes, I MUST get it!” Once you achieve this, your website will become very profitable Nelson Tan is the webmaster behind Internet Mastery Center. Author : Jeff CasmerCopywriters love benefits They know that no matter how attention grabbing a headline is, it is ultimately the benefits that lead to a sale and earning money Benefits are motivators They help you to see whats in it for you and how your life can improve When setting a goal, focusing on the benefits can keep you ambitious and help you succeed

However, in order for benefits to truly help you achieve your goals and earning money you have to in grave them in your head, so you are constantly reminded of what you are working towards The more your mind accepts something the easier it is to do

The way we think shapes they way we act If you think in negative terms you act negatively For example, if you wake each morning thinking this internet business is not working because I am not earning money or Im not good at this and I dont want to do this, your programming your brain for failure Chances are you wont do the work required and if you do, its because you are forcing yourself to Thus, you are actually resisting the free energy flow of success It takes you twice as long with twice as much effort to complete the task

But by thinking positively you train your mind to tell your body to act positively Even if you dont feel like working, you will, not because of force but because something inside of you wants to Since most humans cant just suddenly be positive, especially when they are fearful or un-ambitious you need some type of motivator, hence the benefits

Sure, you may not want to do the task but if you stop and think of the benefits of doing it youre giving yourself positive motivation to do it To make this easier, do what copywriters do write it down

By writing down all the benefits you can think of you not only reinforce that facts in the actual act of writing it down but you have a physical reminder that you can use to ingrain them into your head

For example, perhaps you dislike going through your email, but you know it has to be done Instead of grumbling about it, take a moment to write the benefits of reading your email such as

1 Doing so will help clear my inbox

2 I may have some important messages that will help my career, or a nice note from a friend

3 I will feel less anxious after I am done which will help me concentrate on other tasks

When you start to think negatively look back at the benefits to help you get positive energy flowing through you Feeling positive makes it easier to things even when we dont like them

Writing down benefits works for long term goals as well Many people dont achieve their goal because they cant hold a positive image in their head long enough to help them complete the steps to achieve the goal

They can see it initially when they think of the goal, but after a week or so the image starts to fade For instance, when you first started your online business you were bursting with enthusiasm and had a picture in your head of how life would be when you are successful and earning money

How long did it take for the picture to fade and the excitement to become diluted? For the average person it only takes 2 weeks Just two week for negative thinking to set in But if you write down your goals in a benefit driven manner you are less likely to enter that dark phase and start earning money

Thus your goal would look something like this

I want to start an internet business (thats the goal)

The Benefits:

It will give me an opportunity to help others

It allows me a flexible lifestyle

I get to learn something new everyday

It offers me a more satisfying way to reach my financial goals

You dont have to get as wordy as some copywriters are, just write down the benefits of the goals you have in a way that will encourage you

Benefits arent just a fancy technique used by marketers to earn money, you can apply them to your life to help create a positive outlook on the things you want to achieve, thus creating focus and ultimately success
